Toby Grant
Librarian and Instructional Designer
A BIT ABOUT ME
I am a librarian by training and for the last 7 years I have been doing instructional design and project management.

I am a lifelong learner - I am always looking to learn or improve a new skill, both professionally and personally.

I finished my Master's of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alberta in 2019. Before that I completed a BA in psychology and creating writing from the University of Alberta.

I love finding ways to combine my passions. For example, I have been trying my hand at combining electronics and hand embroidery to make fun, unique designs. I am also working on my drawing skills and understanding of colour theory to continue to grow my embroidery skills.

I am a dog parent of a wonderful beagle and an avid gardener.
PREVIOUS WORK
Over the last seven years, I've had the privilege to work with people from all sorts of backgrounds and with all sorts of experiences!

I love that each position has been flexible and I've been able to adapt and learn to meet the needs of participants!
Digital Literacy Coordinator
Gateway Association

Gateway Association provides a number of services to members of the pan-disability community.

I was brought in to support building and teaching digital literacy workshops for over 200 community members!

Digital Librarian
Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council (KTC)
KTC needed a brand new digital tools curriculum for their 54 remote health care workers!

KTC brought me in June 2020. My first job was to hear staff concerns and challenges.
From their feedback I built and taught 20 different workshops over a two year period!

An energetic file organization activity!
Making and Creating Foundational Services Intern Librarian
Edmonton Public Library (EPL)
EPL was doing a review of their digital literacy and makerspace services.
I worked with a fellow intern librarian over a year to assess services and pilot new/updated workshops.

Workshops included Computer Basics, Tech Time, and adult focused Makerspace workshops.

Sewing classes were piloted and are now a regular Makerspace offering!
